Replica of quartz segments (stone tools) mounted with mastic onto a shaft to form an arrow. The archaeological segments from KDS dated at 65 000 years provide the first known evidence for the use of a bow and arrow. Here we depict a bow and arrows that might be similar to those used by Middle Stone Age people at Klipdrift in the southern Cape, South Africa during the Middle Stone Age (c. 66 000 - 50 000 years).
