Replica of quartz segments (stone tools) mounted with mastic onto a shaft to form an arrow. The archaeological segments from KDS dated at 65 000 years provide the first known evidence for the use of a bow and arrow. Alongside these are arrows made with bone and metal tips that were used by Khoisan hunters during the Later Stone Age and after the first arrival of metal in southern Africa. mage Craig Foster
